Photogrammetric mapping, or
stereo compilation, is the science of planning, designing, and producing detailed measured maps from aerial photography. MLA
produces these maps in-house and provides unsurpassed quality in the Alaskan mapping industry.
Photo scale, flight lines and
photo control plans are determined by MLA photogrammetrists based upon project requirements such as coverage area, required
scale and contour interval. MLA generally utilizes airborne GPS combined with premark or photo-ID ground control, with rigorous
check points to assure Quality Control and Accuracy. Ground control can be provided by the Client or MLA can utilize its in-house
GPS survey department to provide a complete turn-key package. MLA utilizes two high powered DATEM softcopy photogrammetric
workstations for its map data compilation.
Deliverables generally include
an accurate Digital Terrain Model (DTM) as well as digital and plotted map copies at scales from 1" = 20' to 1" = 1000', and
1' to 10' contour intervals, depending upon the project requirements. Mapping files can be provided in AutoCAD or MicroStation
formats along with Orthophoto formats in tiff, jpeg, or Mr. Sid.
